RAG (retrieval-augmented generation)
Fetching documents or traces at run time and stuffing them into the model context.

Retrieval-augmented generation looks up text (docs, tickets, prior traces) and adds it to the context window before the model answers. It is a memory tactic, not a mind. Agents often mix RAG with tool use; they are not the same thing.
